연방 거래위원회 FTC도 코로나 19 관련 사기 근절을 최우선 사안으로 정했으며 특히 접촉자 추적 전화 사기 방지에 집중적인 노력을 기울이고 있는 것으로 알려졌습니다. 이에 BBB는 접촉자 추적 전화 사기 피해 방지를 위해 몇 가지 중요한 주의사항을 공개했습니다.
접촉자 조사원은 접촉자의 현재 건강 상태와 의료 이력 그리고 최근의 여행 경력만 묻게 돼 있으며 정부 ID 번호나 은행 계좌 같은 자세한 개인 정보에 대해선 묻지 않습니다. 또 이들 조사원들은 전화를 걸어 본인의 신분과 보건국 혹은 기타 정부 기관 등 소속임을 밝혀야 합니다.
특히 이러한 접촉자 조사는 전화로 진행되는 것이 일반적이며 소셜 미디어나 문자 메시지로는 이뤄지지 않습니다. 아울러 조사원들은 코로나 19 확진자의 신원을 결코 누설하지 않기 때문에, 이를 언급할 경우에는 사기 전화임이 주의됐습니다.
텍사스 주 보건국 관계자는 접촉자 조사는 피조사자들의 자발적 응답과 철저한 비밀 유지 엄수를 기준으로 이행되고 있다고 전했습니다. BBB의 더프너 관계자는 “이메일과 소셜 미디어를 이용한 가짜 조사에는 악성 소프트웨어가 포함돼 있을 수 있어 신용카드를 사용하는 곳이면 한 번의 클릭으로 개인 정보가 도용될 수 있다”고도 경고 했습니다.
