Vintage Antique Early 1900s Maltese Cross Masonic Knights Templar Ribbon Pin Freemason Medal
Wonderful vintage maltese cross medallion in gold plate with white detailing. These Masonic Knights Templar medals are awarded for the 2nd degree Order of Malta, which was originally founded in 1918 on a WWI battlefield in France by a Mr. T. Cheeks of Girard, Alabama. Bringing battlefield souvenirs home was a common practice by most soldiers. This Order emphasizing the lesson of faith and requires the Mason to profess and practice the Christian faith. The Order is centered on allegorical elements of the Knights of Malta, inheritors of the medieval Knights Hospitaller.
Medal measures 3 3/8” in total length with medallion measuring 1 7/8” across. There is some wear to the white areas as reflected in the images but in overal good vintage condition.
