아직 이번 홍수 피해에 대한 정확한 집계는 이뤄지지 않았으나 큰 규모의 도로 및 차량 침수, 항공편 지연 등을 비롯해 1명의 사망자와 다수의 부상장, 100여채의 가옥 파손 피해도 발생했습니다.
이에 그렉 애봇 텍사스 주지사는 어제(23일), 달라스, 태런 카운티를 포함한 23개 지역에 재난 사태를 선포했습니다. 애봇 주지사는 이번 주 DFW 지역이 폭우와 홍수로 가장 많은 피해를 입었다고 밝히며 피해 지역민들에게 우선 개인 보험사에 보험 청구를 할 필요가 있으며 텍사스비상관리국(TDEM)에도 피해 신고를 하도록 당부했습니다.
또한 달라스 시의 에릭 존슨(Eric Johnson) 시장도 시 당국이 이번 폭풍에 피해를 입은 사람들을 돕기 위해 가능한 모든 노력을 다 할 것이라고 말했습니다. 존슨 시장은 이번 홍수가 천 년에 한 번 있을 기상 악재였다고 덧붙였습니다.
