연방 아시아태평양 의원 코커스, Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) 주최로 재미이산가족 청문회 (hearing)가 오는 6월 12일, 수요일, 오후 2시 30분부터 2시간여 동안 연방하원(423 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, DC 20515)에서 열립니다. 이번 포럼은 코커스 의장을 맡고 있는 주디 추 캘리포니아 27지역구 하원의원이 한반도 평화 프로세스 성공을 바라는 미주 한인들의 관심을 반영해 주도, CAPAC가 개최하는 것으로 한반도 비핵화를 비롯해 북미인산가족 상봉, 인도주의적 대북 지원, 평화 안전문제 등 재미이산가족문제를 포함, 다양한 북한 관련 정책 이슈가 논의될 예정입니다.
재미이산가족상봉 추진위원회(DFUSA) 보도자료에 따르면, 이날 포럼에는 북한에 어머니과 동생 5명을 두고 온 재미이산가족 한 분이 참석해 자신의 이야기를 전할 예정이며, Paul Lee 재미이산가족상봉 추진위원회 회장이 미국정부와의 활동내역을, 이차희 사무총장이 전반적인 재미이산가족상봉 문제에 대해 보고한 후 질의응답 시간이 마련됩니다. 이차희 사무총장은 이번 청문회는 일반인들의 참석도 가능하다고 전했는데요. 사전에 재미이산가족상봉 추진위원회(CAPAC) 디렉터 Krystal Kaai 씨에게 이메일하시면 됩니다. 이메일 주소는 krystal.kaai@mail.house.gov 입니다.
