난민 망명신청 처리 50달러 수수료 부과
연방 이민국(USCIS)의 각종 이민 수수료가 오는 2일 본격적으로 인상된다.
이번 수수료 인상의 평균 폭은 20%로 이민국은 이번 조정을 통해 10억달러의 추가 수수료 수익을 거둬 적자에서 벗어날 수 있을 것으로 보고 있다.
가장 큰 폭으로 오른 수수료는 시민권 신청 페티션인 N-400으로 기존 640달러였던 것이 1170달러(온라인 신청일 경우 1160달러)로 530달러나 인상된다.
이어 주재원 비자인 L1비자의 경우 기존 460달러에서 815달러로 75%나 오르며 H2B 비농업 비자도 460달러에서 715달러로 55% 인상된다. H1B 비자도 460달러에서 555달러로 인상되며 취업영주권 과정의 1단계인 노동허가증 신청 페티션인 I-765는 410달러에서 550달러로 오른다.
영주권 신청 가운데 결혼으로 인한 영주권 신청인 I-751은 595달러에서 760달러로 오르지만 반면 취업영주권 페티션(I-140)은 기존 700달러에서 555달러로 인하된다.
한편 이번 인상안 가운데 그동안 무료로 제공하던 난민들의 망명신청 처리에 처음으로 50달러의 수수료를 부과한다. 전세계에서 망명신청에 수수료를 받는 나라는 이란과 피지, 호주 등 3개국과 미국이 포함되게 됐다.
